How MUGOO-talk works:

• you send an email to MUGOO-talk@mugoo.ca
• the MUGOO-talk robot broadcasts your email to everyone on its address list (including you!)
• when someone replies to your email the MUGOO-talk robot broadcasts the reply to everyone

To send a message through MUGOO-talk

You MUST be on the subscriber list. (See next item.)

Send your email message to:

Make the SUBJECT of your message meaningful. For example, "I need help with my Mac" is a bad choice, but "How do I activate a new printer in OS X?" is a good choice. Try to keep the BODY of the message concise. The MUGOO-talk robot broadcasts your email to everyone on its address list (including you!)

To get on the list

Send an email message to:
MUGOO-talk-join@mugoo.ca

Make sure to send this message from the account you want added to the list. The SUBJECT and BODY of the message are ignored. The robot will send you a confirmation message.

To leave the list

Send an email message to:
MUGOO-talk-leave@mugoo.ca

Make sure to send this message from the account that is on the list. The SUBJECT and BODY of the message are ignored. The robot will send you a confirmation message.

To get an index of archived digests

The robot archives all of the messages it broadcasts, but due to technical limitations, they are not available online or via email. If the technical limitations can be overcome, a web-accessible archive will be made available.

Privacy!

To ensure your privacy, MUGOO-talk is only open to subscribers. The list of subscribers is locked - no one other than "listmom" can see the names and addresses.

SPAM prevention

Only subscribers can send messages to MUGOO-talk, which should stop all spam (unless a user sends it!) The robot refuses messages that have attachments, enclosures, or HTML encoding to prevent viruses from being broadcast.

Legalese

MUGOO-talk is an open, unmoderated list, so anyone can join, and they can talk about whatever they like. Please remember though, that MUGOO is a family-oriented organization, so all material sent to MUGOO-talk should be suitable for family viewing. Abuse of MUGOO-talk will result in the abuser being barred access - this is not a debatable point.

Problems?

Mail to MUGOO-talk is processed by an email robot, so flowery requests (Hello, my name is Fred and I would like to subscribe to MUGOO-talk...) are just ignored. Sometimes the robot will send you a rude message pointing out your error.

Once you are a subscriber, any messages you send to the robot are broadcast to the whole list. Please keep messages short and to the point.

If you need help from a human, send your questions to "listmom" using this form

The most common problem is an incorrect email return address. If your address is wrong, or if you have set it to something like <nospam.for.me@myisp.com>, the robot can't send you any mail.

If mail sent to your address is refused for any reason, your name and address are immediately dropped from the list.

If your ISP's mail system is unavailable during a robot broadcast, the robot will keep trying to send the mail for two days.
